I'm trying to install the Office Home and Student 2007 on my laptop with XP,
but it gets about halfway across the installation progress bar and this
browse for folder box comes up. When I ok the HomeStudentr.WW folder as the
installation source, it continues for a while and ends up right back the same
point, saying setup cannot find the same HomeStudentr.WW\HomeSrWW.cab.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It can be a problem with the Windows Installer Service. Try the following
steps because i had the same problem and these steps helped me to resolve the
problem.

Close any open windows.

Click Start --> Run type msiexec.exe /unregister and click ok. Note that
there is a space between msiexec.exe and /

Click Start --> Run type msiexec.exe /regserver and click ok. Note that
there is a space between msiexec.exe and /

Once this is done. Click Start --> Run --> type services.msc and check if
windows installer service is started. If not right click and click Start to
start the service of windows installer.

Now try installing office 2007.

I have been attempting to install office 2007 on a laptop with vista. I
have followed the steps mentioned, and still end up with the error
message. What is different though, the first step, run-msiexec.exe
/unregister, does not seem to run, and when I attempt to run
services.msc a whole list of files jumps up, and I have no idea which
file to choose! any insight would be great!
